All official dance weekend workshops, including lunch and the Decades Dance, will be held at the Avalon, a beautiful 4500 sq ft dance hall in east Boulder.

The Avalon is the result of decades of effort by many very committed individuals in the local Boulder dance community to acquire a community-owned dance space. These efforts came into fruition in the fall of 2005, through the dedicated and tireless efforts of the Village Arts Coalition, a non-profit organization — a coalition of groups and individuals — dedicated to promoting folk arts in the Front Range, Colorado area.

Volunteers have worked many hours since late summer 2005 to convert what was once a "cube farm" of commercial office space into a spacious ballroom. They have demolished much of the old building interior, built a fine cushioned dance floor (in use since October 2005), hung acoustical materials, revised the air-conditioning, and generally spruced up the building and grounds. It was a tremendous amount of work, and the result is very exciting. Work will continue throughout the coming months. Early 2007 saw the installation of a wonderful sound system that enhances the dance experience even more!
